Other theatre and arts organisations
We’ve concentrated just on Melbourne organisations below, and ones with their own venues. There are plenty of other theatre companies who don’t have a permanent venue, as well as independent dance theatre companies, puppetry companies, physical theatre companies etc.
These organisations below generally support established artists but some create specific opportunities for emerging artists. Each company works a little differently in how they program their work, including commissioning work and providing space for other ensembles or groups to present work. In that sense, sometimes they have a curatorial function where they choose work and sometimes they operate more like a venue for hire.
