From the moment Eddie Wizard, showman, crooner and sometime snake-charmer slithers on stage, an unexpected journey begins…towards Sonya, holding the elderly Rose as she pretends to be a butterfly; past Alex, a young delinquent who invents an imaginary friend to comfort and love; and beyond Stefan, spinning the most extravagant suit on earth whilst Alice, his invalid mother, moonlights as a rock star.

Walk the maze of Test Pattern, a world generated by the youth of today: surprising, elusive and contrary; where eight characters, based on real people and real lives, reveal the chasm between their actual and imagined selves. Together, they herald an unfathomable future, borne of their observation of previous generations and their longing for connection.

Test Pattern explores a terrain where, poised on its precarious global foundations, an entire generation may be holding its breath.

Generation Y or the echo-boomers, as academics and media powers have dubbed them, are most often examined as part of a marketing strategy. The aim of the project was to go beyond learning how to sell them Nike and Pepsi and get some idea how generation Y came to be the way they are.
